Marty Conger

Chief Financial Offcier (CFO), retired,  Battelle

As a mentor, how can you help with the Fuse community?

I am an outgoing and energetic leader with expertise in business strategy, business systems, government contracting, financial management, budgeting and cost control, health and retirement plans, internal controls, regulatory and contractual compliance and most importantly talent development. I helped launch the Battelle Leadership Development Program (BLP) for up and coming Finance and Contracting leadership across the many laboratories operated by Battelle as well as a counterpart, the Early Career Development Program (ECDP). I was an advocate and mentor for both highly sought after and competitive programs that have been successful in creating future leadership across the Battelle enterprise.

Biography

During 42 years at Battelle/PNNL, with successive positions of increased financial management and leadership responsibility culminating as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), I participated in and developed career building and mentoring programs, gaining a reputation as a developer of talent. I believe talent development is a fundamental responsibility of leadership and I take great pride in the talented individuals I helped grow in their careers. Not only was it the most rewarding aspect of the many positions I held, the investment of my time and energy into identifying and developing talented individuals leaves a lasting legacy.
